Each year, the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) launches the June Agricultural Survey to gather critical insights on crop acreage, grain stocks and farm operations across the U.S.

This year, 92,000 producers are being contacted to participate. Their input shapes the nation's understanding of agricultural supply and helps guide decisions from farmers and ranchers to policymakers and economists.

Why Is the Survey Important?

Annual survey data plays a key role in shaping the USDA's official acreage and production estimates and impacts market forecasts, influence pricing and agricultural policy. When farmers participate, they help ensure the industry is represented accurately and transparently.

Accurate figures are crucial as the season progresses, and weather, planting decisions and global conditions affect the ag economy. These numbers support crop insurance planning, risk management strategies and future planting decisions.

How Farmers Can Participate

Farmers selected for the June Agricultural Survey can participate in several ways. They may respond by mail, phone or online. Regardless of the method, responses are confidential and protected by federal law so no operation or producer is identifiable.

Survey results will be compiled into the Acreage and Grain Stocks Report, set for release on June 30, 2025. This report provides vital insight into mid-season planting trends and grain inventories.

How It Impacts Your Operation

Taking part in the survey ensures agriculture is accurately represented nationally. The more producers who respond, the stronger and more useful the data becomes across the industry. From input suppliers to grain marketers and equipment dealers, everyone relies on this information to make informed decisions.
